Key Poses for Shoulder Pain Relief

  • Cat-Cow: On hands and knees, inhale to arch spine (cow), exhale to round spine (cat). Releases neck and upper back tension while improving spinal mobility.
  • Thread the Needle: On hands and knees, slide one arm under the opposite side of your body, lowering shoulder and ear to the mat. Opens the upper back and between the shoulder blades.
  • Eagle Arms: Cross arms, wrap forearms, press palms together. Stretches the deltoids and upper back, improving shoulder rotation mobility.
  • Reverse Prayer Pose: Sit or stand, bring your hands behind your back, join palms with fingers facing upward. Provides deep stretch for chest, shoulders, wrists, and forearms.
  • Child’s Pose: Kneel and fold forward, resting forehead on mat. Walk hands forward to intensify the shoulder stretch while gently releasing back tension.
  • Downward-Facing Dog: From hands and knees, lift hips to an inverted V. Relax neck and let head hang heavy for gentle shoulder traction and spine lengthening.
